Artist Statement
Stephen Tuomala's paintings and drawings re-contextualizes historical images and film stills by pushing the scale, material, tone and intensity of the color. His main focus is on a variety of subjects dealing with spectacles from the tragic to the sensual enhancing the bodies’ gestures and the stories they tell.
